Joe Novak

Joe, Founder and Owner, Bow River Productions

Joe is founder and owner of Calgary-based Bow River Productions, a television production company, and co-founder and partner of 1400 Months, a company specializing in digital content creation, management and distribution. A graduate of Concordia University and the London School of Economics and Political Science, Joe has many years of CBC journalistic experience in network news, current affairs and arts & entertainment programming. He has developed complimentary digital platform content for television shows as well as produced award-wining traditional dramatic, documentary, performance, and lifestyle content for a variety of Canadian networks. He has traveled extensively across Canada and throughout Europe consulting for broadcasters and producers in creating screen content strategies.


Joe is President of the Alberta Media Production Industries Association, a Member of the Minister of Culture’s Film and Television Advisory Council,and on the Board of Directors of the Canada Media Production Association, Lougheed House and the Calgary International Film Festival. He also teaches part time at Red Deer College.
